People vs Process
I often see change being treated like an engineering challenge in organisations. In this vein, I have seen great strategies, plans and change management flowchart. People assign tasks, check off milestones, and yet genuine transformation rarely takes hold. The truth is, lasting change doesn’t come from plans or spreadsheets. It comes from people.
It’s the emotional commitment, the human energy, that makes transformation work. Effective leaders know that change is built on trust, belief, fear, curiosity, and resilience, not just process steps and metrics. After decades of working on major change initiatives, I’ve seen one common thread. In summary, success or failure of any programme depends on whether people feel part of it. When leaders engage hearts and minds, the change becomes real. When they don’t, even the most elegant strategy fades away. Why Real Change Is About People, Not Process.
Exploring What Truly Drives Change
The core idea behind a conversation I recently had with Willem Maritz, founder of SoloSei (solosei.com) is human -led change. In this full interview, we explore what truly drives organisational change. From emotional dynamics and leadership behaviour to the psychology of trust and connection.

This conversation also marks the start of a new series of short clips I’ll be sharing on LinkedIn. Each one of these focuses on a different aspect of change and consulting practice.
